Rajeev to play ‘Aamir’

“As Captain Rajveer, who has been diligently training a batch of young cadets in ‘Left Right Left’ (‘LRL’, SAB) I sense identification with Shah Rukh Khan’s character in ‘Chak De India’.

Being a sporty and an adventurous person I would love to act in a movie like ‘Chak De’! Hats off to SRK for proving that you don’t always need a galaxy of top stars to make a runaway hit,” insists Rajeev Khandelwal who will now be quitting the show ‘LRL’.

Rajeev is gearing himself for his film debut in director Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Aamir’. But wouldn’t Rajeev’s absence adversely affect the show? “Maybe in the initial episodes his fans would miss him. But gradually audiences will get engrossed in the twists. After all it’s a character-driven and not a saas bahu one,” explains co-producer Deeya Singh.

Rajeev’s a show-stopper literally!

Rajeev Khandelwal’s role in Left Right Left has ended, but there’s buzz that his quitting hasn’t gone too well with the serial makers Deeya and Tony Singh.

Apparently in the last few days the tension escalated. Rajeev even had a showdown with Tony, we hear. Well, well, now what do we say?

It just seems like history is repeating itself. Remember a couple of years ago something similar had happened between Rajeev and producer Ekta Kapoor when he quit her popular show Kahin Toh Hoga?

First b’day of Left Right Left

In times when television serials are pulled off air after a three-month telecast, completing a year is definitely a milestone. One that calls for a celebration.

So on Thursday night, Deeya and Tony Singh hosted a bash to celebrate the first birthday of their serial Left Right Left on SAB TV and along with the cast of the serial, a number of their friends also showed up to revel in the good times.

A gorgeous looking Aparna Tilak came solo, but hung around with Priyanka Bassi (who let her down and grooved the night away) and Vikas Manaktala.

Rajeev Khandelwal speaks about life after ‘Left Right Left’.

Rajeev Khandelwal shot to fame with his much loved character Sujal, who later went on to create history by quitting ‘Kahiin To Hoga’ at the peak of his career with stardom. Temptation is the last word in this talented actor’s dictionary. Read on to discover more about him, his affairs and his so called rift with Ekta Kapoor…

Do you feel Sujal is the replica of your personality in any way?
Sujal was the character that brought me to the forefront. I don’t think that I performed amazingly well but, Sujal suited me very well. Sujal is the character which is present in everyone. Rajeev has a part which is like Sujal. Both of us are very passionate and stubborn. We have a lot of similarities except, I would not chase a woman if she is happily married. I would accept that as my destiny and will let her go.

One decision you are proud of making would be…
I am proud of all the decisions that I have made. The biggest one being the decision of quitting ‘Kahiin To Hoga’. I am glad and happy that I made the decision of quitting ‘Kahiin To Hoga’ at the peak of my fame. The character was at the peak however; I realized that if I needed to maintain the fame I had to leave. I would repeat every thing I did including the failures in the last four years.

Changing face(s) of serials – Rajeev’s comments.

Change in TV actors playing popular characters has now become a routine. LT find out how these changes affect the TRPs and the viewers.

What’s in a face? Quite a lot actually. But talk of frequent change of actors playing popular characters on the small screen and you’ll be forced to think otherwise.

We are referring to Anurag Basu of Kasautii Zindagii Kay , Sujal of Kahin To Hoga and the larger- than-life character of Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi .

These shows are running as successfully as they did before these changes were made. And it makes one wonder if replacing an actor with a new one actually matters? LT talks to TV actors, directors, producers and TRP agencies on how discomforting this change can be for a ‘loyal’ viewer.
