Rajeev Khandelwal tells DT that he has quit Left Right Left, but has not signed any film…
After ruling the hearts of the television audiences, everyone thought Rajeev Khandelwal would take the next logical step and move onto the big screen.
But, Rajeev is no hurry to jump at any Bollywood offer that comes his way. Says he, “Talks about various projects are on. But, nothing has been finalised as yet.” The actor is reportedly quitting the serial Left Right Left to work in films.
Rajeev clarifies, “I never ever leave anything for anything else – that’s not my style. My role in the LRL is coming to an end. As an actor, I feel that a character should carry on only up to a certain point. There’s no point in dragging it on unnecessarily.”
Rajeev’s co-actor Amna Sharief in the serial Kahin To Hoga, in an interview, had recently said that the two are being cast as the main lead in two films. “Well, I have no clue about this. As I said, talks are on and many producers are considering both of us for their films, but, that’s about it.”
Remind him how a fan of his called him the ‘Shah Rukh Khan of TV’ and he laughs, “Well, that’s very nice. All I’ll say is that I am just very truthful to the profession and not the kind to get carried away easily.” Ask him if there’s any dream role or a kind of film he’d like to act in and he says, “I’m open to any kind of role, small or big. The only thing is, it should be challenging – a role of substance that any newcomer would dream of.”
But, once shootings for films commence, will Rajeev bid adieu to television? “It’s strange that here people are talking about the number of movies I’m doing when I am yet to sign my first film. However, for now, I am happy to continue with television for some more time,” he smiles.
